Honestly, I was hesitant to join Exp Realty at first. It wasn’t even on my list of brokerages to interview when I made the decision to move to another brokerage. Why? Let’s just say I had been approached by a number of random Exp Agents messaging me to join Exp Realty. I didn’t even know who these agents were, why would I care what they had to say? I had no interest especially after finding out that this is common among Exp Realty agents to recruit. So it left me with a bad opinion of Exp Realty, damn their agents really do nothing but recruit… But it’s a good thing that I kept an open mind and took the chance to learn more, more on that later.
Also at the time that I was being recruited, I was content with my current brokerage where I was getting a 99% commission split and doing pretty well as an agent. So what caused me to leave my brokerage? Well, I quit my full-time engineering job and made the leap to the 1099 self-employed world. I no longer had the comfort of a secure income every two weeks. I realized real quick, that I had not been operating my real agent business as a BUSINESS! When I had my W2, I didn’t care whether my clients bought a house or not because I had the income from my job. But now, because it was my only source of income to support my family, I became fully aware of my business’s shortcomings. I knew I had to make major changes in order to be able to build a predictable and steady business. I also realized that my small SOI was already near being tapped out. So I needed to learn how to become a real agent and generate leads for my business really quickly. And what I needed was tools, technology, training, and creative modern strategies to generate leads which unfortunately my boutique brokerage was not able to provide.
Through research, I found that many of the big box brokerages were known to provide these tools, resources, and training for their agents all included in their brokerage fees. Of course, it came at a cost, a higher commission split to the brokerage. So, I had the decision to make, stay with my current brokerage and find, pay, and learn how to do it all on my own. Or switch to a brokerage where all those tools and technology were provided at no cost but the commission split was greater. Having an abundance mindset over a scarcity mindset, I made a bet on myself that if I learned how to properly generate more business and steady income, at the end of the day it didn’t matter if I had to pay a little bit more back to my brokerage. The cost of getting more income and learning how to operate my business properly was well worth the loss of a 99% commission brokerage. Because 99% commission on under 10 sales a year, was not going to cut it for me in my market. I needed to double, or triple my business.
So when I made the decision to find a new brokerage. As I mentioned earlier due to the bad taste left in my mouth by aggressive Exp Realty agents that were obviously just trying to recruit. Exp Realty was not even on my list. However, another agent friend that was also on a similar mission suggested I check out this Youtube channel. There was a particular agent there that was creating content to help other agents succeed in building their brand, marketing, and social media to generate more leads for FREE. Ok, exactly what I need! So I looked him up and I watched a few videos and the content was relevant and good. It just so happens that he had recently joined Exp Realty as well. And of course, I’m curious, so I watched a few videos about what Exp Realty is really about. There was no pressure or pitch to join, just facts about Exp Realty. And the more I watched, the more I learned about the Exp Realty business model and it just made SENSE to me! Exp Realty was a newer brokerage that was very heavy in technology and provided so many resources for FREE to their agents. Me being an engineer and technology savvy, I knew that Exp Realty was going to be a great fit for me. For example, they provided KvCore a CRM software that normally costs like $500/month, FREE to all of their agents! This alone I knew was worth it to join Exp Realty. So naturally, I had more questions about Exp Realty and I ended up having a virtual call with this YouTuber. I didn’t join right away, I kept my spidey sense on and kept watching and learning about Exp Realty and his Agent First Group. I stayed in touch and finally 6 months later I decided to partner up with my YouTuber sponsor at Exp Realty and joined his Agent First Group. There’s just so much value in joining this group from an AI real estate software, marketing services, knowledge, tools, and strategy masterminds. We have done your social media content, done for your video editing for both short videos like reels or Tiktok, and longer form videos like Youtube. These all allow us as agents to spend less time working inside our business and on it. On top of that, joining Exp Realty offers agents even more value in the ability to create multiple sources of income, solve the problem of retirement for agents, and even pass on a legacy for an agent’s future generation. Exp Realty and the Agent First Group have exceeded my expectations above and beyond. I could not have joined a better brokerage or group of agents to work with.
